So....life has been busy and I wanted to share a few things, first being the name of my blog. And then they lived happily ever after would be the ending to a few of my favorite fairy tales. It's a dream phrase and ironically a phrase I thought of often when I thought of marriage growing up. While David isn't a knight on a white stallion as I dreamed, he is my Prince Charming. Rachel is not the perfect child- but she's better than a best friend. I'm not the housewife I thought I'd be, but I am Thankful for my employment. Life is fast, problems come faster, but family means the world to me. This is why I am blogging...more for close friends and family to keep tabs on us from far away.
So it's 2010 and this May will mark the 10th year that David and I have been married. We've been through the ringer in back in every aspect of our lives. I am so proud yet to be married to David after the man - especially Father he has become. Although at times I wish he were the social sort-----Fact is, He's the same biscuit and gravy loving, Mountain Dew Drinking, History Channel watching, Gamer-Guy he has always been. And I'm appreciative of this after watching many marriages fail due to people changing, never home, not attentive to each other, and just not wanting to work on big issues.
Rachel is growing and is now 2yrs 4 months old. She stands over 3ft tall and weighs 40lbs. She's had one haircut in her life- and currently we are debating giving her a short bob haircut- I never wanted to give her bangs because they seem permanent once you cut them...so we are still debating it. She is not potty training as well as expected, she will sit on the potty about once per day but rarely actually doing anything. We are just encouraging her often and hope she catches on soon. Diapers aren't cheap and frankly we are tired of changing them! The pediatrician does remind us that even though she looks like a 3-4 year old, be patient because she is still only 2! This is good advice. On the other hand, Rachel talks up a storm and can identify quite a few letters! S seems to be her favorite. I heard Rachel counting two days ago "five, six, seven, eight, nine.....ten!" It was still awesome although she missed 1 through 4! Many times she thinks of something to say in her head and starts actually speaking it halfway through! It's like watching her gain the confidence to say different things!
SO, in general, life is going good for us. We are looking ahead to some type of vacation this year again -----Panama City/ Destin area was amazing. I would like to return there. However, there are many other places we have discussed. For now, we are living daily, while I am praying to serve God more this year, be kinder to ALL people, speak less-listen more (I don't think this will ever happen but I do pray for it!) and most of all be a better Wife, Mother, Daughter, and sibling than ever before.
